FOX40 kicks off holiday toy drive to benefit kids at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California

Broadcasting live from Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Elk Grove, FOX40 kicked off its Holiday Toy Drive on Monday, November 26. Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California is the lucky beneficiary of the annual toy drive that continues through December 7.

Morning show hosts Mae Fesai and Pedro Rivera invited viewers to help make holiday wishes come true for kids at the Shriners Hospital in Sacramento. They said that toys suitable for toddlers to teens are welcome and appreciated as the hospital’s pediatric care extends from infants to young adults. Those who wish to participate may drop off new, unwrapped toys at participating Big O Tires and Mountain Mike’s Pizza stores in the Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto areas. Collection continues through Friday, December 7.

Donated toys will be delivered to the Sacramento Shriners Hospital between 8 and 10 a.m. on Friday, December 14. The spectacular delivery will be broadcast live on the FOX40 morning show.

The toy delivery provides a unique opportunity for hospital staff and volunteers to join together to celebrate and thank FOX40 and the community for their generosity. Dressed in holiday attire, including “ugly” Christmas sweaters, staff sing a medley of holiday carols as generous sponsors place toys under the holiday tree in the hospital lobby.

“The holiday toy delivery is such an uplifting event and brings a holiday sparkle to all of us at Shriners Hospital,” said special events coordinator Joe Ramos, who also leads the “Shriners Hospital Carolers” in song.

Donations received during the Holiday Toy Drive are wrapped by staff and volunteers, and on Christmas morning, Santa delivers them to patients. Thanks to a kind and generous community, donated toys are distributed to patients throughout the year, making it possible for the hospital to provide gifts to children hospitalized on their birthdays. Donated games and toys are also used by patients and families participating in activities in the central play area.

FOX40 is coordinating the annual benefit in partnership with Big O Tires, Mountain Mike’s Pizza, 93.7 The River, iHeart Media, Inc., the Dog and Joe Sho, and KHOP 95.1. Learn more about where to drop off toys.
