Board of Governors Spotlight - Brett Crockett

Brett Crockett will celebrate one year on the Board  of Governors this January.  He is one of the newest Board members.

When Brett's wife, Maggie, was working as a special education teacher in one of the Salt Lake City elementary schools, there were students in her classroom who received care at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City. “This made a huge difference for those kids and their families,” he recalls.

He was interested in becoming a Mason, and Maggie insisted that he also become a Shriner and join the Shriners fraternity. She wanted him to be part of the organization that was doing so much for many of her students. He said he couldn’t say 'no' when asked to serve on the hospital Board

Brett enjoys serving on the Board because he gets to learn more about the people who work and volunteer at the hospital. He has participated in the Walk and Roll for LOVE with his family, and last month, his son’s Cub Scouts pack took a tour of the hospital with Grandpa Leon as the tour guide.

Brett’s father, Leon Crockett, is the immediate past Chair of the hospital Board. Brett is a patent and trademark lawyer. He enjoys working with new technology and creative people in order to protect their creations. His wife Maggie is a special education professor at the University of Utah, and they have two children, Lily and Zeke.
