Engineering pro Randy Cannon never stops

Randy Cannon receives the November Employee of the Month honor

Randy Cannon has been a part of the engineering team at the Salt Lake City Shriners Hospital for 11 years, and this is the second time he has earned a well-deserved Employee of the Month award.

Greg Rushforth, director of engineering and maintenance, describes him as the guy who never stops. "He's just a hard worker,  and he's always there when you ask for him." Greg also notices that, "everybody asks for Randy because they know he does the best job! He's very dedicated to his work, to improvement and quality." He said Randy best exemplifies the Shriners Hospitals for Children core value of "commitment." Randy also stays focused by working safely and seamlessly.

Over his career, Randy has worked on building homes, commercial buildings, contracting, re-modeling and building an LDS Temple (chapter). "It has been a great opportunity for me to work with such good people," Randy says. "We have a great bunch of guys in engineering. We can joke and laugh together in or out of work. They are fun to be around (most of the time— ha!)".

During his free time Randy likes to hunt, fish, work on old cars, watch a good movie, "and think about things I used to be able to do but can't anymore `cause I'm old!" Randy has been married to his wife Karen for 43 years. They have four kids, nine grandchildren and a black lab. He packs his lunch from home, but since the EOM gets to choose a cafeteria meal, he chooses a big beef burrito or chili verde burrito because "they always look good!"
