Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City is proud to incorporate a project called Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS), developed by the National Institutes of Health. PROMIS questionnaires measure what children are able to do and how they feel by asking questions about physical function, pain and peer relationships. These scores are then saved in the electronic medical record to help providers track functional progress over time. The questions are administered on tablets upon arriving at the hospital and scores are immediately available for social workers, physicians, therapists and other providers to help identify problems or to celebrate progress.
