Support services

At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City, care is delivered in a patient/family-centered model, which means the patient and family are the focus. In addition to your medical care, we have the following support services and accommodations.

Play areas

Patients staying at the hospital for long periods of time are scheduled for play as part of their daily routine. Structured and unstructured activities take place in the hospital each day. A child life specialist supervises activities that include everything from cards and video games to our 30-year tradition of Friday night bingo.

Patients and their siblings are welcome to utilize our play areas while at the hospital. On the first floor, the Kid’s Corner is between Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services – West, LLC and the clinic; on the second floor, you cannot miss our central activities area and the outside playground, which can be accessed from the second floor.

Sometimes structured activities are facilitated at the hospital. Activities like our quarterly family fests, arts and crafts, and performing groups are offered to patients and their families. To receive email invitations to these events, subscribe to our e-newsletter.
