James A.

James A. “Jim” Doel of Perth, Ontario, Canada, is currently serving his second three-year term on the Shriners Hospitals for Children Board of Trustees. He was elected during the Shriners’ 2017 Imperial Session held in Daytona Beach, Florida, July 9 – July 13.

Doel was raised a Master Mason in True Britons Lodge #14 in Perth, and joined Tunis Shriners in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1996. Appointed to the Divan in 2000, Doel served the temple in the requisite offices and was Potentate in 2009. He is a 25-year member and immediate Past Master of True Britons Lodge #14 in Perth, and is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Hamilton, Ontario. Doel is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and serves as a President of the National Capital chapter of the Widows Sons, a Masonic riding association.

Doel was appointed to the Board of Governors of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston in 2010 and has served as Chairman of the Public Relations, Donor Development and Hospital Day Committees. Doel was a member of the Risk Management, Strategic Planning, Performance Improvement, Nominating and Research and Grants committees and also represented the Boston Shriners Hospital on the Imperial Donor Relations Committee.

As a Trustee, Doel serves as Hospital Liaison for both the Philadelphia and Greenville Shriners Hospitals for Children. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Corporate Compliance Committee and Follow-up Clinics and Telehealth Committee, as well as the Budget, Strategic Planning, and Salaries and Personnel committees and others. He has served as Chairman of the Hospital Regulations Committee and as a member of the Information Technology, Affiliation Evaluation, Budget, Medical Affairs and Hospital Operations committees. He has also served as a member of the East-West Shrine Game® Committee and is currently a member of the Motorsports Committee.

Doel is the Founder and past C.E.O. of Jade Transportation Services in Perth, and has been in the transportation management industry for more than 30 years. Now retired from business, he serves as a member of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management and as a committee member on the Level VI RAM Subcommittee of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.

Doel and his wife, Lyn, have been married for more than 35 years. They have one daughter, Kimberlee.
