Meet Jacob

Our 2018 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open representative!

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland is proud to introduce Jacob as its patient ambassador to the 2018 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open! Jacob, age 18, has been a patient of the Portland Shriners Hospital since 2009 when he was diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, a degenerative bone disorder that affects the hips. Jacob is among a small percentage of patients who have both hips affected, and is currently working with his physician to determine the best course of action as he enters adulthood.

Jacob lives in The Dalles, Oregon, with his father Brian, mother Kathryn, and sisters Savanah and Emma. He has always loved sports, but due to his condition he was unable to play in most sports, including football and baseball. Jacob began to play golf at the age of 3, and it has now become his passion. He just finished his high school career with a 4 handicap, and looks forward to pursuing golf, hopefully competing in the U.S. Open one day.

Fundraise FORE Love

Now you can help Jacob enjoy a special trip of a lifetime to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas this fall!

Jacob will be the Portland Shriners Hospital standard bearer at the 2018 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an official PGA TOUR event. He will have the opportunity to join a patient from every Shriners Hospitals for Children, walking the course with players and participating in special events to help people learn about the care and services we offer.
