Patient recognized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky House of Representatives

Lily recognized as a local and National Patient Ambassador

Lily, patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center — Lexington, is currently representing the entire Shriners Hospitals for Children health care system's patients as a 2018–2019 National Patient Ambassador. Lily was honored and recognized by Representative Steve J. Rudy for all the wonderful work she has done to encourage patients and families, and raise awareness for Shriners Hospitals for Children. Lily received a citation in her honor, which was presented by the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The wording of that citation is copied below.

The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hereby recognizes and honors Lily upon being chosen to be a National Patient Ambassador by the Shriners Hospitals for Children, and will spend the year sharing her story of perseverance in the face of adversity. One of only two chosen this year and the first ambassador from the Kentucky hospital in twenty-five years, Lily is from Paducah, Kentucky, and a patient at the new Lexington Shriners Medical Center. Recently completing her freshman year at the University of Kentucky, Lily earned a scholarship to the University of Kentucky Lewis Honors College for admission into the Honors Program, and is studying to be a nurse because of the care she has received at the Lexington Shriners Medical Center. Having served as a patient ambassador for the Lexington Medical Center, she has volunteered for numerous patient events; played a prominent role at the dedication ceremony of the new facility on May 20, 2017; represented the Lexington Medical Center as a standard bearer at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas in 2016; and, is now looking forward to her time as a National Patient Ambassador. The members of this august body are honored to join Representative Steven J. Rudy in applauding Lily, who, during the next year, will appear in events such as the Rose Parade, Shriners Open PGA Tournament, college football and baseball events, and many smaller, regional events, on this auspicious occasion and in extending best wishes for future success and good fortune.

Done in Frankfort, Kentucky, this twentieth day of September, in the year two thousand eighteen.
