REALTORS Who Shrine program supports Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California

Buying a house can mean more than getting the home of your dreams. Homebuyers and sellers can help a child at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California receive life-changing surgery and treatment, thanks to REALTORS® Who Shrine.

Officially launched on January 21, REALTORS® Who Shrine enables realtors throughout California to donate 25 percent of their commissions to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, supporting the hospital in its mission to provide critical care to kids with critical needs.

The new program is the brainchild of Kathi Jobson and Michael Ashker, a husband and wife team with experience in real estate, business and finance.

“We wanted to involve the community and give back to Shriners Hospitals for Children,” said Kathi, a 20-year veteran of the real estate industry.

Her husband, Michael, added, “We brainstormed how we could create a business model focused on developing a recurring donation engine. We came up with the idea for REALTORS® Who Shrine and dedicating 25 percent of the agent’s commission back to Shriners Hospitals for Children. The best part of this business model is that it doesn’t cost the client any additional money and everyone wins in the arrangement.”

Jobson, who serves homebuyers and sellers throughout the greater Sacramento region, holds the Lifetime Top Achiever designation through the El Dorado County Association of Realtors. In addition to representing individual homeowners, Jobson has worked with developers of Greenstone Country and other housing communities. Most importantly, she brings her personal passion and attention to detail to her real estate business.

Ashker began his career in the investment industry, serving in various roles with securities firms, and went on to become founder and CEO of several institutionally-backed companies. Most recently, he became the managing partner of a wealth management firm.

Together, the husband and wife team are working to give back to the communities where they live and work by encouraging their professional colleagues to participate in REALTORS® Who Shrine.

“Donations matter, because every dollar that we get from a donor is used in what we do for kids. It is a direct link,” said Alan Anderson, director of development for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. “A kind, generous and engaged community is the heart and soul of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, where each patient’s path to success is fueled by donations and driven by excellence in treatment, teaching and research.”
