Our children's orthopaedic hospitals, children's orthopaedic clinics and other outpatient locations are home to a renowned team of board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeons devoted to transforming children's lives. We are committed to providing progressive treatment options anchored in the latest research. This applies directly to our minimally invasive approaches, like the use of the EOS imaging system to reduce radiation exposure, and the MAGEC spinal system to reduce surgeries for patients with early-onset scoliosis.

These are just two examples of the many innovations that set Shriners Hospitals for Children apart and make the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation processes as safe, compassionate and effective as possible.

We provide children’s medical support services to help patients continue their path to recovery and healing, and to support the child’s growth and development, while helping them be as functional and independent as possible.

Many Shriners Hospitals for Children locations feature a motion analysis center that carefully studies and measures patient movement patterns to help guide treatment plans aimed at addressing gait dysfunction. Rehabilitation services, like pediatric physical and occupational therapy, are also available for those who may benefit from these services.

Every patient has a different story and unique needs. Many benefit from the services of our Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS), LLC departments, which help customize artificial limbs, braces and adaptive devices. The POPS staff utilizes the latest in computer aided design (CAD) technology to design and fabricate custom orthotics and prosthetic devices for growing children. Unlike other providers, we fabricate (create) devices within our facilities rather than outsourcing, which increases collaboration with the medical team and improves turnaround times for our patients and families.

Another great example of our in-house support services is our casting department, which fabricates Mehta casts to straighten the spine in cases of infantile scoliosis.

The menu of support services is a comprehensive one led by Shriners Hospitals for Children's large staff of seasoned pediatric orthopaedic specialists:

Helpful links and information:

Since the first Shriners Hospital opened in1922, the organization has treated 1.4 million children. We've also been paving the way in pediatric orthopaedic treatments and rehabilitation services ever since.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is at the forefront of orthopaedic care. Many of our locations offer EOS imaging; a technology that can provide physicians a 3D look at the full skeleton, while emitting significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays. Our team of experienced orthopaedic surgeons have also pioneered the use of the MAGnetic expansion control (MAGEC) spinal system. MAGEC rods allow for less invasive spine lengthening that can be performed in an outpatient setting. MAGEC significantly reduces the need for multiple surgeries, making the treatment process less invasive and safer.

These technologies go hand-in-hand with our Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS), LLC departments and in-house advanced rehabilitation programs. These ancillary programs elevate your child’s pediatric orthopaedic treatment plan to provide, what we like to call, a wraparound care experience.

In other words, Shriners Hospitals for Children blends outstanding orthopaedic care with the latest medical technology, support services, and without fail, a warm, family-centered touch.
