Understanding scoliosis
Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that affects an estimated 6–9 million people in the U.S., and millions more worldwide. As there is often no known cause for scoliosis, early detection is the best way to prevent curve progression.
The orthopaedic specialists at Shriners Hospitals for Children developed a new app – SpineScreen, which detects curves when the phone is moved along a child’s back, to give parents a quick way to routinely monitor their child’s spine health.
