Kansas City Chiefs / Running Back

Today, Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West is living his dream. Thanks in part to Shriners Hospitals for Children. As a child, West suffered from systemic juvenile arthritis. He was treated at the Shreveport Shriners Hospital with a revolutionary medication that put the disease in remission.

West will show his gratitude and support for Shriners Hospitals for Children by participating in the 2017 NFL My Cause My Cleats initiative.

My Cause My Cleats gives players across the NFL an opportunity to wear personalized, custom cleats during Week 13 games to raise awareness for the charities and foundations they passionately support.

“It is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart because I was once a Shriners Hospitals kid. They saved my life and I am forever grateful for all they do to help children,” said West. “I want to bring awareness to children who have special health needs and the amazing and exceptional care provided at Shriners Hospitals for Children.”

West’s message to all children affected by a health care challenge is simple, “No dream is too big. #BlessUp.”

West’s Love to the rescue cleats® will be worn when the Kansas City Chiefs face the New York Jets, Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. EST on CBS.

Following the game, the autographed custom cleats will be auctioned online through NFL Auctions. Proceeds will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
