Trauma specialists providing prompt care for orthopaedic injuries
As part of the specialized services offered for children with orthopaedic conditions, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Shreveport provides care to children with fractures and other orthopaedic injuries. Our orthopaedic surgeons are highly experienced in pediatric trauma and offer prompt care for children who have experienced an injury.
Our fracture team offers comprehensive care for the treatment of fractures and orthopaedic injuries, providing services that, depending on the injury, may include:
- Reduction/re-alignment
- Casting
- Surgery
- Post-fracture follow up
- Rehabilitation as needed
Orthopaedic injuries treated at our facility include:
- Closed fracture (diagnosed or suspected)
- Severe contusion
- Dislocation
- Other orthopaedic injuries
- Complications from past orthopaedic injuries
Fracture clinic appointments
Patients with fractures or orthopaedic injuries must first be seen by their pediatrician/physician, local urgent care center or emergency room. The physician can then arrange an appointment through our referral process. Our hospital does not offer emergency room services.
Referring physicians should call our referral line to schedule an appointment. Please bring all relevant X-rays and imaging to the fracture clinic appointment.
