Patient wins prize money and donates it to the Spokane Shriners Hospital

The Spokane Shriners Hospital staff is excited to recognize an amazing contribution to the hospital, which was received from a patient!

For several years, Spokane Shriners Hospital Patient Ambassador Ansel has been raising money for the hospital through the efforts of his greeting card non-profit business, Through the Eyes of a Child Photography. This year, Ansel raised over $1,600 during many events, including the Donor Appreciation Luncheon, multiple craft fairs, and even his own donation of competition prize money that was awarded by the Air Force in a 2019 competition at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ansel earned first place among 1,800 students from over 60 countries with his design of a walker that can measure weight-bearing through the handles. His design includes a feedback training protocol to help patients learn to use 10 pounds or less of force, which is the limit prescribed after cardiac surgery. A huge congratulations to Ansel on this truly remarkable accomplishment!

We are so grateful for incredible friends like Ansel who seek to give back and help make it possible for us to help more kids!
