Spirit of Children Halloween party brings smiles to faces of patients

Spirit of Children Halloween party brings smiles to faces of patients

On Oct. 15, patients gathered once again for an incredible Halloween experience put on by the generous team at Spirit Halloween. Each year the Spirit of Children Foundation hosts a party at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Spokane, where patients and their families enjoy craft projects, face painting and goodies, and leave with a brand new costume of their choice.

For the second year in a row, A Moment of Magic – Gonzaga, a group of trained Disney impersonators, participated in the party. This year, Shriners Hospital patients were visited by Mary Poppins, Rapunzel, Tinkerbell and her twin sister, Periwinkle.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of Spirit Halloween. Our patients and their families look forward to the party each year,” said child life specialist Larissa Sims. “In addition to the amazing parties, Spirit Halloween raises funds for our hospital.”

Each year, Spirit Halloween offers 10% off an entire purchase (online and in-store). They match that 10% savings with a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Spokane. To date, the Spirit of Children Foundation has raised nearly $400,000 for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Spokane. “We hope to break the $400,000 mark this year,” said Kelli Marko, regional zone manager for Spirit Halloween.

One hundred percent of money collected for Spirit of Children will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children — Spokane’s child life department, which helps make the hospital experience easier and more comfortable for young patients and their families by providing non-medical treatment and healing through play.
