Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is requiring hospitals to meet established criteria as part of the state’s reopening plan. The Springfield Shriners Hospital submitted its Phase 1 attestation on May 29, 2020, its Phase 2 attestation on June 9, 2020, and its Phase 3 attestation on July 8, 2020. The Phase 3 attestation was resubmitted and reaffirmed on November 16, 2020.

Catherine B. Nowak, M.D.

Catherine B. Nowak, M.D., is a consulting physician in genetics at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield, an attending physician of medicine/genetics at the Children’s Hospital Boston, and in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Nowak received her undergraduate degree in psychology and biology from Dartmouth College and earned a medical degree from McGill University. Dr. Nowak completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts and a fellowship in clinical genetics and birth defects at the National Birth Defects Center in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Dr. Nowak is a fellow for the American Academy of Pediatrics; member of the American Medical Association, Organization of Teratology Information Specialists and American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
