Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is requiring hospitals to meet established criteria as part of the state’s reopening plan. The Springfield Shriners Hospital submitted its Phase 1 attestation on May 29, 2020, its Phase 2 attestation on June 9, 2020, and its Phase 3 attestation on July 8, 2020. The Phase 3 attestation was resubmitted and reaffirmed on November 16, 2020.

David B. Tashjian, M.D., FAAP

David B. Tashjian, M.D., FAAP, is a consulting pediatric surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield and is affiliated with Baystate Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Tashjian received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Amherst College and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Tashjian was an intern, resident and chief resident in surgery at Baystate Medical Center and completed two chief fellowships at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital in pediatric surgery.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Tashjian include laparoscopy, thoracoscopy and neonatal surgery.

Dr. Tashjian is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics – surgical section, a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, American Pediatric Surgical Association, Candidate Group of the American College of Surgeons, International Pediatric Endosurgery Group, Massachusetts Medical Society and Hampden District Medical Society.
