The health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our highest priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is requiring hospitals to meet established criteria as part of the state’s reopening plan. The Springfield Shriners Hospital submitted its Phase 1 attestation on May 29, 2020, its Phase 2 attestation on June 9, 2020, and its Phase 3 attestation on July 8, 2020.

A message to our patients and community: We’re Here for You

The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield has cared for children in Western Massachusetts and beyond for more than 95 years. Now more than ever, we appreciate the trust families continue to place in us.

We are proud that we have been able to keep our doors open throughout the coronavirus crisis, providing essential care and performing critical surgeries. Now, following the guidance of local and national public health and government recommendations, we are working to create a new normal.

Safety first

To protect the health of patients, families and employees, we have adopted several new safety measures. For now, our facilities are operating at a reduced capacity, and we have modified our patient processes to maintain safe social distance. Upon entry, all staff and patients are given a thorough coronavirus symptom screening, including temperature checks and an exposure risk assessment. Everyone over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask or face covering.

To minimize the number of people in the building, we ask that one adult accompany patients to their appointments. Parents and guardians are urged to make childcare arrangements for siblings in advance of your visit.

Your next appointment

For patients whose appointments were postponed, our staff is contacting families to discuss rescheduling options. New and established patients are welcome to contact us directly to request an appointment.

We recognize that some families may feel more comfortable continuing to quarantine at home or limit travel. We are pleased to offer a telehealth option called Fast Track Video Visits. Ask your doctor if telehealth appointments might be the right choice for your family.

Coronavirus has created many challenges and changed many aspects of all our lives. Our commitment to our mission to provide care regardless of families’ ability to pay endures. If there has been a change to your benefit status or financial situation, feel free to ask for information about ways we can help.

Here for you

The coronavirus may have changed how we do some things, but we are still here, providing the most amazing care anywhere. We are inspired by the resilience our patients and families display, and we continue to pursue our mission of improving the lives of children.

At Shriners Hospitals for Children, patients and staff are family. It is a privilege for us to provide care for children, and we want you to know, now and always, we are here for you.

Most sincerely,
The Springfield Shriners Hospital care team
