Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield is committed to providing an optimum level of safe, quality care to our patients. This is done by measuring the processes that support our services and using this data to make improvements and positive changes. The data we obtain comes from several sources, such as patient and family satisfaction surveys (Press Ganey), as well as the use of an internal occurrence safety reporting system. We utilize the data collected to continually address any opportunities for improvement in order to provide the best care possible and fulfill our vision of being the best at transforming children’s lives.

Infection prevention and control is paramount to any hospital and is a national patient safety goal. At the Springfield Shriners Hospital our health care associated infections are remarkably low. Our hospital utilizes the World Health Organization (WHO) guidance on “My 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene”. We assess compliance of this through quarterly surveillance monitoring and continually address the importance of good hand hygiene with all staff, patients and visitors. In addition, we maintain strong external communications with the Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emergency Preparedness to implement strategies for prevention and transmission of communicable diseases.

Shriners Hospitals for Children strives to deliver an exceptional experience for our patients and families. Our caregivers provide the highest quality and compassionate care to children with specialized health care needs. Our hospital received the 2016 Employer of Choice award by the Employers Association of the Northeast. In addition, Shriners Hospitals for Children has been nationally recognized by Press Ganey Associates for excellence in patient satisfaction.

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Springfield consistently ranks in the top decile among pediatric facilities for patient and family satisfaction. We have been the recipient of the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for patient satisfaction in outpatient services. The Springfield Shriners Hospital ranked in the 99th percentile of pediatric hospitals for willingness to recommend inpatient services in 2016.
