Barbara Hancher, RN, BSN, MHA, CIC

Barb Hancher, RN, BSN, MHA, CIC, is the nurse manager of the inpatient unit. Since 1997, Hancher has enjoyed being a part of a comprehensive team that cares for children with orthopaedic conditions. Since beginning her career at Shriners Hospital, she has been employed as a staff nurse, relief nursing supervisor, charge nurse, and coordinator of infection control/employee health. As manager of the inpatient unit, Barb oversees the clinical and administrative facets, including supervising nurses and addressing concerns of patients and families. In 2013, she was presented The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses (The DAISY Award).

A graduate of Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville School of Nursing, Barb earned a master’s degree in health administration in August 2015 from Ohio University. She is certified by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. She is also a member of the professional organization, Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
