Patient Ambassador Micah named football queen!

Micah was named Queen of the 49th Annual Shrine Football Game at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse!

Micah was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia at a young age. Though she lives in Wisconsin, she is a patient at both Shriners Hospitals for Children — St. Louis and Chicago. She's the youngest of five children and the only girl. Her brothers are into football and two of them play on the University of Wisconsin — La Crosse football team.

Each year the team hosts a special game benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children and Micah was named Queen of the game for the second year in a row! What makes this year so special is that two of her brothers play on the team and she delivered the football to the starting quarterback, who just happens to be her brother!

Micah's family has a close connection with St. Louis surgeon Perry Schoenecker, M.D., who is also from Wisconsin. Dr. Schoenecker's father was chief of staff at the hospital where Micah's dad currently practices!

In addition to serving as queen of the Shrine Game, Micah is also a champion equestrian! Riding horses has served as a wonderful form of therapy for her. She pays for much of the equipment for her horses through running her own lawn care business!

Micah will have a second hip replacement surgery at Shriners Hospitals for Children — St. Louis in November. We wish her the best of luck!
