David Leffers, M.D.

David Leffers, M.D., is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Florida. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. After completing a residency from the University Of Southern California, he went on to a fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic, National Athletic Health Institute. Since 1984 Dr. Leffers has provided specialized orthopaedic care specific to sports medicine, for the patients at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Florida.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Leffers include sports injuries.

Dr. Leffers is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, American Orthopedics Society of Sports Medicine, National Athletic Trainers Association and Southern Orthopedic Association. He is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, USF Health. He also serves as director of the division of sports medicine. He is a team physician for the USF Bulls and has worked extensively with professional athletes and teams across the Tampa Bay area, including the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm.
