Fast Track Video Visits offered at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Florida

To ensure access to and continuity of care whenever possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shriners Healthcare in Florida launched a telehealth program – called Fast Track Video Visits (FTVV) – to enable our families to see their doctors and nurse practitioners from the comfort of their own homes.

With a focus on safety, convenience and patient satisfaction, the new program allows the medical providers at our Tampa facility to connect with their patients via video software to conduct follow-up visits and discuss treatment plans. Our staff hopes this innovative approach will ease any stress related to maintaining appointments and complying with stay-at-home orders.

Since its launch at the beginning of April, our medical team has had more than 150 FTVV with patients. This telehealth program is an extension of the care currently provided at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Florida, and the platform improves the safety of the community by decreasing potential risk of exposure. Pictured to the right is Cheryl Lawing, M.D., connecting with a patient on a virtual visit.

This will not replace all in-person visits, as there will continue to be circumstances that will require a physical visit. Some examples that may require an in-person visit include new injuries, the need for X-rays, patients that need adjustments to their orthotic or prosthetic devices and patients that need casts removed.

FTVV are for patients who have a computer or mobile device with email, camera and microphone, as well as access to the internet. If you are interested in being seen sooner via FTVV, please call 813-367-2105 to see if you qualify. The Shriners Healthcare for Children — Florida staff is here for you!
